A promise we made to ourselves three years ago when we opened our doors was to design Arboro not just for you, but with you. Along the way, we have listened as much as possible. We have asked questions. We have revised and shifted to make our vision of what Arboro Empowered could be- OUR vision (you are part of that 'our') because it's OUR Boro.
That play on words is not accidental. It's intentional.
The name Arboro is a play on words:
Arbor= tree
As in a family tree. As in strength, protection, growth...
Boro (borough) = neighborhood, community, town
As in neighbors looking out for one another, supporting one another, providing resources to one another.
As in GreensBORO, our founding location and the place we call home

In the spirit of this promise we made to bring you along for the ride, we want your help to shape our branding. Those of you who have been here from the beginning have watched us evolve while staying true to our purpose. Never once have we strayed from our core values or purpose. We do sometimes struggle to make it clear. Because we aren't copying anyone else. We created Arboro based on the needs we witnessed as teachers, as parents, as community members. We saw that it was too difficult to find quality, accessible resources, and we had to do something about it.
